As exciting as the Fly-in has been to post, today is Monday. Monday, the first work day of the week for many people. Monday is also Macro Monday and this is my contribution although it is more of a tightly framed image with a longer lens.
After receiving 6 inches or so of rain the past week plant life here has kicked in to its tropical growth cycle. The YELLOW bloom pictured here is on a European Fan Palm tree. This is a hearty tree bothered less by extreme cold temperatures and has few enemies.
Love the bright yellow of the flower and the sharp textures surrounding the bloom.

Makes a strong point for the theme, can it be used as a featherduster later??

Such an unusual looking bloom, makes me think of corn. The spikes on the leaves look lethal as well.

Lethal is a good description, the barbs are very sharp and causes a rash. Maybe that is why it doesn’t have many enemies.

It is definitely protecting its bloom/fruit/seeds with those spikes. Great details!

Palm flowers look to me like sea life some how. Those are some wicked looking barbs on the fronds, smart to zoom in a bit…
