YELLOW is the new red in bird identification
The amount of yellow on the throat was much deeper than the books I researched.
Fortunately I had reliable assistance for an id (Thank you Cathy).
This Red-Bellied Woodpecker sat with it’s head poked out from a hole in a tree as I snapped it’s portrait.

Does that mean that the new red is Green 🙂
Since posting this pic I found out that the brighter shade of yellow is due to breeding coloring, I was a lucky duck so to speak.
