Launch views of the final mission of Space Shuttle Discovery at Kennedy Space Center on Thursday, February 24, 2011. An AMAZING sight of a POWERFUL AIRBORNE vehicle heading SKY HIGH.
You got a good day to watch a launch with those blue skies. I think I saw my only shuttle launch from this same place back in 1989. I recall sitting there for 5 hours thinking it was a huge waste of time for a minute of excitement, but in retrospect it was worth it, for I can say I saw one take off.
This was the 5th launch we have been at. Even saw a magnificent night launch once they are all unique and memorable. 5 hour wait is commendable. We sat in traffic 7 hrs going home. Will do it again for the final 2 launches!
We are so jealous you got to witness that! One year we went to Florida to see the space craft launch and they canceled it until after we left! 😦 Awesome captures!!!
So fortunate to get to witness this awesome launch! You have some great photos here to document the launch too! But am sure it didn’t hold a candle to actually being there.
