Photographers have many QUESTS… what are yours?

The primary quests of this photographer is capturing a balance of lines, shadows and light.

This photograph was the result of a trip to the lighthouse in St Augustine, Florida.

On this trip the lighthouse didn’t offer the inspiration that was needed to make a decent memory.

However, a walk around the grounds revealed an interesting part of the park that most visitors ignore.

Love the lines on this tree. It might be interesting to turn this into B+W too. And yes, sometimes us photographers need to go to plan b, in this case it worked out anyway.

Funny you should mention a black and white version Mike. That was actually my first approach to process because I thought the shadows and highlights would play better. For some reason I was not satisfied with the result probably because it was taking too much time to get a balance I was happy with and decided to go with the muted greens. That being said, I will give this another go at black and white… let me know your thoughts when I post it.

Thanks Steve, the muted tones were my top choice in process mostly because that was how the day was. I will work on a black and white version 🙂

The lighting and textures make the whole shot…I really like the faded colors in this, but I too vote on seeing a black and white! 🙂

While it might look nice in B/W, I kind of like the effect of that muted green interspersed throughout your image…….agree with Madelaine…….a sense of mystery prevails here…….

I find the image mysterious. I keep searching the image to find something or someone.

super shot! the growth on the limbs looks quite alive, these trees look like they are swimming…or moving on all fours along the ground, awesome

It looks so lush and jungle like I’d be inclined to push the saturation. Since I’m time traveling here the b/w is very fine and gives an entirely different feel. Helps to start with a compelling image like this scene
