That border on the top with the reflections and that one clearly defined ring of ripple behind the boat make this unique. Add that to the lone meditative pose of the man in the boat and this is a great composition. Might I suggest cutting out a bit of the the foreground? It’s much brighter than the rest, and perhaps draws they eye away from the subject and that visually interesting upper border.

Glad you enjoyed this mostly. Funny you mentioned cropping out some of the foreground. I had originally tried that and the overall scene didn’t feel balanced because of the continuum of ripple effect was removed.

    Hi Patty,
Beautiful shot! Looks like he’s totally relaxed and into the fishing. That could be my hubby, he likes to fish too. Have a great day!

Another painterly effect(?)…..love the reflection of the grasses in the water and for me the man in the boat appears to be lost in his own world….kind of like he’s not really aware of his surroundings…. a double isolation!

Not exactly painterly – Topaz B&W and Topaz Simplify/Buzsum. The image actually didn’t take a lot of process just a couple tweaks I learned from Topaz Webinars.

It’s a lovely scenery, so calm, serene and peaceful. The deep and warm colour tones almost jumps out of the frame. The grass and the reflections of the grass along the upper edge of the picture are fascinating. Wonderfully captured.

There is nothing like sitting in a boat on a calm body of water, thinking about life, and waiting for that fish to bite! Great photo! And a quick note of thanks for signing up to follow my blog! –B
